Moving to Northern Colorado

Northern Colorado covers a lot of ground, from the college-town energy of Fort Collins to the quiet farm towns out on the plains. If you're relocating from out of state, the biggest decision usually isn't which house, it's which town fits your lifestyle and commute.

If you want walkable and urban

Fort Collins and Longmont both offer walkable downtowns, established arts and dining scenes, and access to public transit. Fort Collins leans more college-town, while Longmont sits closer to Boulder's tech corridor.

If you want new construction and amenities

Windsor, Severance, Timnath, Johnstown, and Firestone have all seen heavy new-home development in recent years, often with lake, golf, or trail amenities built into the community. These towns tend to sit right off I-25 or major highways for easy commuting.

If you want space and a slower pace

Towns like Ault, Pierce, Kersey, Gilcrest, and Wellington offer larger lots, acreage options, and a genuinely rural feel, generally at lower price points than the growth corridors closer to I-25.

Climate and lifestyle

Northern Colorado sees over 300 days of sunshine a year in most areas, with cold, sometimes snowy winters and warm, dry summers. Most towns in the region are within an hour of the mountains for hiking, skiing, and outdoor recreation.
